July 22, (THEWILL) – The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Benue State, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba and the Jechira block have thrown their weight behind Comrade Dan Nyikwagh to clinch the position of State Secretary in the forthcoming PDP Congress in Benue State.
The PDP stakeholders of the Jechira intermediate area made up of Vandeikya/Konshisha, disclosed their position at a meeting held at the Makurdi residence of Hon. Uba, which was attended by party leaders and other critical stakeholders within the axis.
The leadership of the Jechira PDP, led by Hon. Uba, while appreciating Nyikwagh for the bold step and the courage to aspire to serve the people and party, stated that he has the absolute support and blessings of the Jechira PDP.
According to Uba, given the exposure and political experience of Nyikwagh, if given the chance, will deliver on the mandate and call for unity and support.
In his remarks, the PDP Chairman for Vandeikya, Hon. Thomas Gbatar, confirmed that the Jechira PDP family had given their nod to the ambition of Nyikwagh, who hails from Konshisha Local Government Area of the state.
Earlier in his address, Comr. Nyikwagh stated that the purpose of his visit was to officially inform the Jechira PDP stakeholders of his intention to contest for the position of state secretary of the party.
“I have purchased the nomination and declaration of interest forms and am absolutely ready to contest for the position,” he stated.
Nyikwagh stated that service to the people and party was what motivated him to vie for the position, saying his academic qualifications and political experience are factors that have positioned him as a better choice.
He, therefore, solicited support from all and sundry for him to emerge the winner of the election in order to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Family, friends, party supporters and members of the Dan Nyikwagh Campaign Organisation who accompanied the aspirant on the journey include David Mzer, Former Principal Special Assistant (PSA) on Media to former Governor Samuel Ortom, who is the Director General of the Campaign; former Executive Secretary, Benue State Teaching Service Board, Dr. Frank Ikyugun, and the immediate past Deputy Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Council, Mr Frank Mbashinya.
Others were; former SSA to the Governor, Hon. Muhammed Lawal, Prof. Terver Upav Yajir, Hon. Kapu T. Kapu, Hon. Iorliam Shija, former SSA on Archives, Research and Documentation, Hon. Teryila Tyav, former SSA Works and Transport and Hon Terkimbi Akaaka, former Chief of Staff to the former Speaker, among others.
