June 03, (THEWILL) – South Korea’s Under-20 Manager, Kim Eun-Jung, has highlighted a significant advantage for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles ahead of their quarter-final clash against the Asian side at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, Santiago del Estero, on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils, as the Koreans are known, caused an upset by securing a 3-2 victory over Ecuador in the round of 16 clash on Thursday, June 1. In contrast, Nigeria emerged victorious against the host nation and six-time champions, Argentina, on Wednesday, granting them an extra day of rest before the upcoming quarter-final match.
Eun-jung acknowledged this advantage, as he stressed the importance of recovery for his team. Shortly after South Korea’s physically demanding win against Ecuador, the Flying Eagles arrived in Santiago Del Estero to commence their preparations for the match against the Asians.
“I don’t think there is a next time. We have to match everything against Nigeria,” Eun-Jung said. “Nigeria had one more day off than we did, so I think we should focus on recovering as well.” In their previous encounter at this level, the Flying Eagles defeated South Korea 1-0, with Olarenwaju Kayode scoring the decisive goal after just eight minutes.
As the anticipation builds, tomorrow’s quarter-final showdown between South Korea and Nigeria will kick off at 6:30pm at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.
