Tuface, Other Nigerians Won’t Be Stopped From Protesting Peacefully – Presidency

SAN FRANCISCO, February 03, (THEWILL) – In an apparent response to the planned nationwide protest spearheaded by popular Afro-Pop star, Tuface Idibia, against the biting economic hardship in the country, the Presidency has declared that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is not one that will not stop Nigerians from demonstrating in a peaceful manner.

Senior Special Assistant to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Media and Publicity, made this clarification in a series of tweets, stating that “This administration will not prevent Nigerians from expressing themselves in peaceful protests, it’s a fundamental right of the people”.

He however pointed out that, “No govt has ever laid out the kind of Social Investment Prog, the Buhari govt is now running across the nation, that will touch millions.”

Recall that Tuface had, in a video posted on his Facebook account on Tuesday, called on Nigerians to come out in a “peaceful and articulate manner” for the protest billed to hold in Lagos on February 6, 2017.

“The need for urgent solutions to the challenges facing Nigerians has become very clear. Things are not getting better for the majority, we are still where we are, poor and desperate. I will no longer be quiet,” he posted.

The Lagos state Police Commissioner was before now reported as saying that he will not allow the protest to hold.
