August 22, (THEWILL) – Stanley Nwabali, the Nigerian goalkeeper, who rose to fame during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, might remain at Chippa United for another season. Despite rumours linking him to clubs in Europe, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, no official bids have been submitted.
Thabo September, Chippa United’s assistant coach, confirmed Nwabali’s return to the club. He stated that the player would stay if no concrete offer was received before the transfer window closes. September emphasised the club’s support for Nwabali’s career progression but noted that currently, there are no known offers on the table.
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022. Last season, he made 26 appearances and kept 11 clean sheets for the South African club. His standout performance in the 2023 AFCON, where he helped Nigeria reach the finals and was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament, attracted international attention.
The goalkeeper’s future remains uncertain. While there is interest from various clubs worldwide, no formal bids have been made. If no suitable offer is received, Nwabali will continue to play in the Premier Soccer League for Chippa United in the upcoming season.
