August 05, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, held a closed-door meeting with the heads of security and paramilitary agencies at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting comes amidst the ongoing nationwide protests against hunger and economic hardship in the country.
President Tinubu had in a national broadcast on Sunday, condemned violence and looting spearheaded by hoodlums that have infiltrated the protest.
Urging the protestesters to suspend action and create room for dialogue, President Tinubu further directed security agencies to ensure public order, as well as the security of lives and properties.
The meeting had in attendance the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, accompanied by the service chiefs and other top military and paramilitary chiefs.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, were also in attendance.
