Tension In Okigwe Over Bomb Scare

July 18, (THEWILL) – Tension and fear envelop the people of the Umulolo community, in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, following a bomb blast that occurred in the area on Wednesday night.

According to a source from the Umuokpara community, the explosion hit the ground and shook houses, which he said, threw people of the community into tension.

“We heard that heavy sound at about eight o’clock in the night of Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. Since my lifetime, it was my first time experiencing a bomb blast.”

A commercial motorcyclist, Okechukwu Ohanwe, who also operates within the Okigwe town, explained that they are now in fear over the incident and that their commercial activities are now gradually paralysing.

Just recently, bandits invaded the Garki area of the town and killed over five persons, while the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospitals.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Imo State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Henry Okoye, said he would reach out to the Divisional Police Officer.
