Tatum, Brown Power Boston Over Mavericks

January 23, (THEWILL) – Jayson Tatum scored 38 points while backcourt mate Jaylen Brown added 35 to lead their Boston Celtics to an impressive 119-110 road victory over Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

The Celtics’ two young stars were in total command for most of the contest, shooting a combined 25-of-47 (53%) from the field to repeatedly thwart attempted Dallas comebacks in the second half. Doncic finished with 33 points and Kyrie Irving chipped in 23, but the Mavs did not have enough firepower to match Boston’s dynamic duo.

“Those two guys are super special players,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game. “When they play like this, scoring and defending at a high level, I’m not sure anyone can beat us.”

At 34-10, the sizzling-hot Celtics maintain a firm grip on first place in the Eastern Conference, thanks to the nightly brilliance of Tatum and Brown. With a deep supporting cast around their two flourishing franchise cornerstones, Boston have now won seven straight games and continues to separate themselves from the pack in the East.
