Suspected Hoodlums Break Into Ogun Assembly, Cart Away Mace

SAN FRANCISCO, December 10, (THEWILL) – Suspected hoodlums on Thursday burgled the office of the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, and carted away the mace.

THEWILL gathered that the hoodlums broke into the speaker’s office overnight and stole the official symbol of the legislature.

The assembly building which is located a few metres away from the Governor’s Office complex in the precinct of the State Secretariat, Oke–Mosan, Abeokuta, was cordoned -off by some security agents who denied anyone access into the complex, citing orders from above.

The spokesman of the Ogun Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

Police Nab Rape Suspects

Police spokesman of State Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the “18 year-old girl (name withheld) was gang-raped by three suspected “Yahoo boys”, in Ilese, Ogun State. The incident occurred last weekend on her way to Ita-Ale area of Ilese-Ijebu, when three young men who rode in a Lexus ES 350 car accosted and blocked her.

“They forcefully dragged her to Rasanwa area where they took turns to rape her at gunpoint. The victim reported the incident at Ilese Divisional Police Headquarters in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

” The Divisional Police Officer, Ilese Division, Yakubu Bala, mobilised his detectives and stormed their hideout where one of the suspects was arrested. He, however, led the police to his colleagues and were subsequently arrested.”

The suspects are Tunde Sadiq Taiwo, 22; Damilola Adesina, 20; and Adegoke Amos, 21.

“They confessed to the crime saying they committed the heinous act thinking the police no longer work in Nigeria”, Oyeyemi added.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Edward Ajogun who ordered the transfer of the suspects to the state CID, warned criminals, “who have the erroneous belief that the police had been subdued to be careful”.

They “would meet their Waterloo in no distant time”, he added.
