June 20, (THEWILL) – Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, has stressed the significance of continuity in his squad, dismissing the idea of inviting new faces to join the team.
“We have one national team, and there is time that we can work to improve the team,” Peseiro said. “If I change the team all the time, I will never be able to improve our organisation.” This comes after Nigeria booked her ticket to the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a narrow 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia.
Speaking to the media following the game, Peseiro, whose contract is nearing its end, acknowledged the limited time available for preparing the Super Eagles for matches and harped on the importance of building a cohesive team over time.
While aiming to enhance dynamics and organisation in their upcoming match against São Tomé and Principe, Peseiro highlighted the need to consider the impact of these changes on their preparations for the African Cup of Nations. He concluded by stating that the door to the Super Eagles remains open for all players.
“We must consider how these changes will impact our preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. The door to the Super Eagles is open for everybody,” Peseiro concluded.
