BEVERLY HILLS, January 27, (THEWILL) – The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi has warned Muslim clerics across the country against using the mosques as a cover up to incite Nigerians and preach disunity that could cause  disorderliness and worsen the security challenges in the country.

He gave this warning in a sermon on Friday after commissioning the ultra modern mosque of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state. The inauguration of the mosque was among activities marking the 26th convocation and 35th anniversary of the establishment of the university.

Sanusi, who led the first prayer, stated that rather than inciting people through preachings, clerics should focus more on uniting Nigerians and preach against incessant killings, which he described as ungodly.

He frowned at some Muslim faithful and clerics who hide under the sanctity and immunity of Holy places to set one ethnic group in the society against the other.

The monarch stressed that such people do not have any blessing from Allah and should therefore desist from such unholy acts.

“More than ever before, this is the time we need peace in the country and as such, Muslim clerics and indeed all Muslims should preach peace among the adherents and work to achieve this with members of other religions in the country,” he said.
