January 03, (THEWILL) – The management of Tottenham Hotspur is keeping an eye on two possible Covid-19 instances in their squad before Wednesday’s League Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea.
Spurs were plagued by a COVID epidemic in December, with nine players testing positive and Premier League games against Brighton and Leicester postponed. They also missed a match against Rennes that resulted in a forfeiture and failure to qualify for the Europa Conference League knockouts, as THEWILL reported.
Manager Antonio Conte said the club are awaiting the results of follow-up PCR tests to determine whether the two players will miss Wednesday’s match, while Spurs will also hope the potential cases have not spread further within the camp.

Speaking about it on Monday, Conte said: “We are checking a couple of situations about COVID – and we’ll see.
“Two players but we’re not 100 percent sure if they’re going to miss the game. We didn’t [name individuals] in the past and we’ll continue in the same way.
“We have to check [the PCR tests], and also during the day, to see if there are new positives or not. We’re checking a couple of situations. Then tomorrow we’ll see which players are available to play against Chelsea.”
On Wednesday, Conte will return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since being fired by Chelsea in 2018.
Spurs have not won a trophy since winning the League Cup in 2008, but the Italian stated he is more focused on constructing “something important” in the hope of future success.
