BEVERLY HILLS, October 16, (THEWILL) – North London English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have signed Swansea City’s Academy graduate and central defender Joe Rodon.

For much of the summer transfer window, Spurs were linked with a move for the 22-year-old Welsh international. They left it late but were swift on Friday to sign him before the English transfer deadline shut.

Transfers between English clubs and other countries ended at the deadline on Monday, October 5, but 16 October was the deadline for transfers between Premier League sides and clubs below in England.

Rodon had an impressive last season for Swansea City and Spurs needed to fill the central defensive vacuum created after the Belgian Jan Vertonghen left to Benfica at the end of his Spurs contract.

Jose Mourinho’s side were able to rush through the paperwork to complete the signing for a deal reportedly in the region of £12 million.

In a very active window for the North London side, Spurs signed Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton, Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica, Joe Hart from Burnley and Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid.
