March 08, (THEWILL)- Tottenham Hotspur have received a timely boost with the return of right-back, Pedro Porro, for their English Premier League encounter against Aston Villa on Sunday. The 24-year-old Spaniard, who has been instrumental with his assists this season, missed the previous two matches due to a muscular strain.
Manager, Ange Postecoglou, confirmed Porro’s availability during his pre-match press conference on Friday. “Pedro is good, he’s trained this week,” the Australian tactician stated, highlighting the importance of having the talented defender back in the squad. However, injuries continue to plague Spurs, with Richarlison, Ryan Sessegnon, and Manor Solomon still sidelined.
With a UEFA Champions League spot at stake, Spurs finds themselves five points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa but with a game in hand. Postecoglou emphasised the significance of securing UCL football but stressed the need for sustained progress. “It’s not a Willy Wonka golden ticket, you know?” he said of his ambition to build a winning team rather than just getting a UCL ticket.
The Spurs manager also addressed the impact of January loan signing Timo Werner, praising the German forward’s contribution while acknowledging room for further improvement. “We threw him straight in. We brought him in to make an impact, and I think he has made an impact, but I think there’s more to come from him,” Postecoglou remarked.
