December 05, (THEWILL) – Napoli have been named Club of the Year at the 2023 Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Serie A Awards. The ceremony, held annually since 1968, honoured Napoli for their first Scudetto triumph in 33 years during the 2022/2023 season.
Former Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti, who has since taken over as manager of the Italian national team, was recognised as Coach of the Year. Under Spalletti’s leadership, Napoli amassed a club record 90 points to win Serie A by a 16-point margin over second-placed Inter Milan.
Among Napoli’s standout performers was Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, winner of the Serie A Player of the Season award. Kvaratskhelia also took home Goal of the Season for his dazzling run and emphatic finish against Atalanta in March.
With 26 goals, Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen was the league’s Capocannoniere, finishing as Serie A’s top goal scorer for the 2022/2023 campaign. His prolific form in front of goal helped fire Napoli to glory.
The AIC awards capped off a memorable season for Napoli, richly rewarding a supremely talented squad that ended the club’s lengthy wait to be crowned champions of Italy once again.
