BEVERLY HILLS, October 10, (THEWILL) –Â Action in the UEFA Nations League returned on Saturday as Spain continued their unbeaten streak in Group 4 of League A.
Luis Enrique’s men were the better team throughout the first half. They completely dominated possession and moved the ball quickly from side to side to try and find cracks in the back five of the Swiss. Both Spanish full-backs pushed forward, combining seamlessly with the wingers. As a consequence, the home team created a couple of really good chances through their play on the flanks.
La Roja also pressed high whenever the Swiss tried to play out from the back. And they were rewarded as that’s how they scored the only goal of the game. Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Yann Sommer, in goal for the Swiss, made a bad pass and as Granit Xhaka slipped inside his own box Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal was in the right place at the right time to power the ball home and give Spain the advantage.
Switzerland played the entire match unable to bring pressure on the Spanish defense nor be creative or meaningful enough in their attacks to disturb David De Gea between the sticks for Spain. On the other hand, La Roja tactically kept possession and control of the game.

This win keeps Spain’s unbeaten run intact and their position atop Group 4 undisturbed. They have accumulated seven points after three matches but face a tough game away to Ukraine next Tuesday, October 13. THEWILL hopes they can raise the level of their game to match the quality at their disposal to ensure they leave that game with an extra three points and still unbeaten.
