BEVERLY HILLS, November 3, (THEWILL) – Barely five days to the US presidential election, Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka has vowed to shred his green card and leave the United States, U.S, if the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, wins the presidential election.
The Guardian reports that the scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of American Affairs disclosed his plan in a speech to Oxford students.
Soyinka said, “If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that.
“The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up.”
The Nobel laureate, who also criticised Brexit, observed that there is a rise of “ultranationalism”, even as he charged young people to resist oppression.
