Son, Danjuma Lead Tottenham To FA Cup Victory Over Preston

January 29, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday night, with a 3-0 victory over a tough Preston side.

South Korea captain, Son Heung-min, who has struggled with form this season, led the way for the visitors with two spectacular strikes. His first came in the 50th minute, a long-range strike that beat the keeper from 25 yards out. Son doubled their lead in the 63rd minute, collecting a flick from Ivan Perisic, before finishing well beyond the keeper.

In the 79th minute, substitute Arnaut Danjuma, who had just been introduced, scored his first goal for the club to seal the victory for Tottenham. The debut goal came from a low cross by Dejan Kulusevski, which Danjuma scuffed home in an ugly but effective fashion.

Tottenham will now look forward to the fifth-round draw, as they hope for a favourable match-up. The team has not reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup since the 2017/2018 season and was eliminated at the fifth round stage in the past three seasons.

Meanwhile, Preston, who are currently mid-table in the Championship, will turn their attention back to their domestic campaign, as they aim for promotion this term and sit only two points off sixth place. Spurs have a huge task ahead of them as they welcome Manchester United to their London Stadium on Sunday.
