August 16, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actor cum producer, Femi Adebayo, has revealed that he had to sell some of his properties to fund the production of his new movie, ‘Jagun Jagun’.
He made this known while granting an interview. According to him, he resolved to sell his properties because he didn’t want to seek help from financial institutions or individuals for the project.
He added that ‘Jagun Jagun’ is a multi-billion naira project, though he can’t disclose the exact amount he spent funding it.
“’Jagun Jagun’ is a multi-billion naira project and I can’t say the exact amount I spent on shooting it.
“I used the proceeds of ‘Ageshinkole’ to produce ‘Jagun Jagun’. I was trying not to get funds from finance houses and individuals. At a point, I ran out of money and because I had faith that the project would work, I sold my properties,” he started.
Speaking further, he added that his worst nightmare now is how to beat the success of ‘Jagun Jagun’ in his next project.
“My worst nightmare is that I have to beat the success of ‘Jagun Jagun’ in my next production”.
Adebayo also revealed how he built the school of warriors used in the movie from scratch.
“We built from scratch the warrior school. We were faced with the challenge of purchasing that land, we wanted to own the land. And at a point, we had an agreement and paid for it, but the children of the owner changed their minds about selling the land.
“We had built the school halfway when the children, who came from Lagos, told us to stop. They were ready to destroy all that we had built and that held us up for almost a week.
“We were going to the police station and the King’s palace just to appeal to them but we were told to only shoot our movie and forget about buying the land,” he stated.
