September 10, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested three suspected kidnappers for allegedly killing a 15-year-old boy in the Olodo area of the State.

The suspects are Umar Muhammad, 24 Audu Muhammad, 22, and Umar Danda, 22.

So-Safe Public Relations Officer, Moruf Yusuf, who confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Monday, said they were arrested following a complaint lodged at the Imala Division of the Corps that one Yahu Mohammad was kidnapped while rearing cattle in Akara forest.

Yusuf said that the suspects, after collecting a ransom of N500,000, allegedly killed the victim and left his corpse at their den.

“On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at about 1900hrs, information reached the Imala Division of the Corps regarding a kidnapping incident.

“A 15-year-old, Yahu Muhammad, was kidnapped, and a ransom of N500,000.00 was collected, but the suspects refused to release him.

“The Special Squad of the Corps at Imala was deployed to rescue the victim unhurt.

“However, upon arrival at the kidnappers’ den, Olodo Karaoke along Anigbado-Idiemi Road, in Abeokuta North Local Government, the team discovered that the suspects had killed the victim despite collecting the ransom,” the statement read in part.

The State Commander, according to Yusuf, commended the operatives of the vigilante group for their assistance in apprehending the third suspect, Umar Danda.

He said the suspects and the victim’s corpse had been transferred to the Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
