August 31, (THEWILL) – Bournemouth staged a stunning comeback to defeat Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park, leaving the hosts at the bottom of the English Premier League table. Everton squandered a two-goal lead in the final minutes of the game to hand the visitors the win.
The first half ended goalless, but Everton took control early in the second half. Michael Keane opened the scoring five minutes after the restart, followed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubling the lead with a well-executed team goal. At this point, Everton looked set to claim their first victory of the season.
However, Bournemouth mounted an extraordinary late comeback. Antoine Semenyo reduced the deficit in the 87th minute, igniting hope for the visitors. Lewis Cook then equalised in the 92nd minute, heading in a cross from Luis Sinisterra.
The dramatic turnaround was completed in the sixth minute of stoppage time when Sinisterra scored the winning goal. The Colombian forward headed in Justin Kluivert’s cross at the far post, sending the away fans into raptures and leaving Everton shell-shocked.
This result marks Bournemouth’s first win of the season, propelling them up the league table. For Everton, the defeat is a bitter pill to swallow, as they remain without a point and anchored to the bottom of the League standings.
