Senate Removes Ndume Chief Whip

July 17, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Senate has removed the senator representing Borno South, Mohamed Ali Ndume, as Chief Whip.

The upper chamber replaced Ndume with the Lawmaker representing Borno North, Tahir Mungono.

THEWILL reports that Ndume recently granted interview to the BBC Hausa, where he criticised President Bola Tinubu over the food insecurity in the country. He told the BBC that the president has shut his doors against his Ministers.

His removal followed a letter of complaint by lawmakers of the All Progressives Alliance (APC), read at plenary on Wednesday, by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

When put to a voice vote, several lawmakers voted in favour and he was replaced.
