Seasoned Broadcaster Emerges 17th President Of Rotary Club Of Ox Bow Lake

August 06, (THEWILL) – Seasoned Broadcaster, Victor Binawari, has emerged as the 17th President of the Rotary Club of Ox Bow Lake in Bayelsa State.

Rotarian Victor Binawari, who is a staff with the State Broadcasting Corporation, Radio Bayelsa, was installed at the Ayalla Hotels in Yenagoa, to the admiration of friends, family, and members of the Rotary Club of Ox Bow Lake, Yenagoa.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Robert Enogha, who described Rotarian Binawari as a round peg in a round hole, expressed optimism that he will project the club into the limelight and pledged his commitment to make his tenure memorable.

Earlier, the outgoing President, Rotarian Alfred Fortune, noted that his administration was saddled with challenges but was able to achieve some goals such as the provision of school uniforms and writing materials for Swali Primary School, water sanitation, and hygiene at Otuogidi in Ogbia LGA and Ayama Ijaw, building of water and toilet facility in Ogbolomabiri, distribution of design washable sanitary pads.

Others include promoting cancer awareness, mental health campaigns, polio eradication, promoting security in communities, sensitisation on the dangers of bush burning, among others.

Rotarian Fortune appreciated members of the club for the privilege to serve and expressed optimism that his successor will take the club to greater heights.

Speaking, the New President, Rotarian Binawari, who appreciated members for the trust, promised to be a servant leader.

Rolling out his community service projects plan for the year, the new president noted that his administration will center on the seven areas of focus alongside the District Governor’s FMC project, meaning, Food, Medicals, and clothing.

In their goodwill messages, Secretary to State Government Dr Nimibofa Ayaowei, represented by Mr Ransome Omukoro, Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, Executive Secretary, State Higher Education Students Loan Board, Dr Michael Amaegberi, the royal father of the day, Sir Bikumo Orukari, Amananowei of Sabagreia, and Niger Delta Lion’s Club, who described the club as a problem solver, appreciated members for their magnanimity and urged public-spirited bodies to collaborate with the Rotary Club of Ox Bow Lake to better the lots of society.

The high point of the event was the installation of the new president by all the past presidents, handing over of the stl of authority to the new president, induction of new members, inauguration of the 2024/2025 boards of directors, as well as cultural display by the Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture.
