September 20, (THEWILL) – Embattled entertainment mogul, Sean Combs, aka Diddy, has been placed on suicide watch while awaiting trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, USA due to unstable mental health as a result of his arrest.
The 54-year-old was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on the night of September 16. The following day, his indictment was made public, disclosing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transporting individuals for prostitution.
He was taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center on Tuesday, September 17, after pleading not guilty and being denied bail twice this week.
It is unclear whether Combs is suicidal and how long he has been on suicide watch.
Sources from the United States Department of Justice and National Institute of Corrections (NIC) said this is a precautionary measure due to his shock and uncertain mental state.
According to the US Department of Justice and the National Institute of Corrections, “suicide watch is supervisory precautions taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation”.
During a court hearing, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, requested that the music mogul be moved to a prison in Essex County, New Jersey, USA.
The final decision was left to the Bureau of Prisons.
