SAN FRANCISCO, September 13, (THEWILL) – Several members of the Boko Haram sect were killed on Friday in Borno State as the Nigerian Army demolished a camp belonging to the insurgents in an air raid thus liberating three villages in the process.

Musa said some troops of 5 Brigade of 7 Division Nigerian Army, who were deployed to the area are presently operating in the Gubio and Nganzai Local Government Areas “with the mandate to destroy terrorists and recently identified Boko Haram camp in Kafiya forest.”

Musa said in the Kafiya forest, incessant banditry activities had been planned and executed and the military expedition to the area was to free the surrounding villages from the grip of the insurgents.
Musa said the air strike became necessary since the main camp is located in the midst of the Kafiya forest and there was need to protect innocent civilians .
The military spokesman therefore asked law-abiding residents of the villages not to panic, saying the operation was for their liberation and that the area will be periodically patrolled by soldiers to ensure that insurgents do not return to the villages.
