Scaloni, Ancelotti, Guardiola Are Finalists For Best FIFA Men’s Coach Award

February 09, (THEWILL) – Lionel Scaloni, Argentina’s national team coach and Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, are among the finalists for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach Award 2022.

The pair are competing against Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, who has been a finalist for the award three times. Scaloni is being recognised for his role in Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar, their first since 1986.

Ancelotti, meanwhile, is being honoured for his accomplishments with Real Madrid, including a continental double and becoming the first manager to win all five major European league titles.

Guardiola, who led Manchester City to another English Premier League title, is looking to improve on his previous two appearances as a finalist in the voting, having finished second in 2019 and third in 2021.

In the Best FIFA Women’s Coach Award, England manager Sarina Wiegman, Brazil’s Pia Sundhage, and Lyon’s Sonia Bompastor are the final three nominees. The winners of the awards will be announced on February 27.
