Salah Wins EPL Player Of The Month Award For February

March 15, (THEWILL) – Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool talisman, has won the PFA Vertu Motors Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month award for February 2022 by a landslide.

Following his return from the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations duty, the Egyptian rediscovered his greatest goal scoring form in February, scoring three goals in four games and assisting on another.

Incredibly, the first of those goals propelled the 29-year-old above the 150-goal barrier for the Reds.

Salah easily beat heavy opposition from the likes of Harry Kane, Jarrod Bowen, and Che Adams, to win the award for the third time this season, following his spectacular exploits in the first few months of the season.

The winger made his first appearance since his AFCON loss in the match against Leicester at Anfield, forcing Kasper Schmeichel into action and striking the woodwork.

Salah returned to the starting lineup with a low-key performance at Burnley, before resuming his form with an outstanding goal to win an unexpectedly hard-fought home match against Norwich.

Salah masterfully controlled Alisson’s long kick downfield, then remained remarkably poised on the edge of the box as defenders and even the goalie surged around him. He made a Cruyff turn to create space for himself before wrong-footing everyone in his path with a cool right-footed finish just inside the near post.

The Egyptian subsequently had a major role in Liverpool’s 6-0 annihilation of Leeds in the Premier League’s penultimate encounter of the month, scoring twice and providing an assist before halftime.

Granted, both goals were penalties – albeit well-taken penalties – but his assist for Joel Matip was spot-on.

Salah received a massive 76 percent of the fan vote, with Kane coming in second with just 7% ahead of Bowen and Adams, who each received 6% and 5%.
