September 01, (THEWILL) – Mohamed Salah has expressed his desire to enjoy what might be his final year at Liverpool following their 3-0 victory over Manchester United. The Egyptian forward played a crucial role in the win, assisting two goals for Luis Diaz and scoring Liverpool’s third at Old Trafford.
Salah’s goal marked his 10th in nine appearances at United’s home ground, making him the first player to score in five consecutive away matches against United in the English Premier League. However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain.
In a post-match interview, Salah emphasised his intention to make the most of his eighth season with Liverpool: “This is my last year with the club and I want to enjoy it.” The forward also mentioned that no discussions regarding contract extensions have taken place with the club.
Liverpool Manager, Arne Slot, praised his team’s performance, particularly highlighting the aggressive tracking back by the forwards. Slot has now become the third manager in EPL history to win his first three matches without conceding a goal, joining Sven-Goran Eriksson and Jose Mourinho in this achievement.
The victory keeps Liverpool’s perfect start to the 2024/2025 season intact, with three wins from three matches. Slot acknowledged the importance of maintaining this momentum: “If you want to fight for the league, you have to win each game.”
