December 15, (THEWILL) – The non-governmental organization, Stakeholders Alliance for Corporate Accountability (SACA), on Thursday, wrapped up its 2023 activities with a Christmas carol at its operational field office in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa state.
In his opening remarks, Executive Director of SACA, Mr Kingsley Ozegbe, said the reason for the end of the year 2023 activities with a carol was borne out of the fact that its major sponsor, Misean Cara of the Republic of Ireland has several Christian organisations working under her.
Ozegbe also noted that another prominent supporter of SACA, the St Patrick’s missionary society is also a Christian organisation, hence ending the year with a carol in honour of Christ Jesus’ birthday was apt.
He commended partners of the NGO, the Bayelsa state Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Education, Environment and others, for their purposeful collaborations with SACA in its quest to drive the campaign against Environmental pollution to greater heights.
Other partnering organisations and governmental ministries, departments and parastatals which the NGO lauded for a worthwhile collaboration were, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), the Media, National Human Rights Commission, ENI, NOSDRA, the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), amongst others.
Meanwhile, in their goodwill messages, partnering organisations have scored SACA high on its activities as the year 2023 gradually creeks to an end.
Speaking during the carol organised by SACA, the Bayelsa state Coordinator, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Dr Eugene Baadom, the Chief Nutrition officer of the Bayelsa state Ministry of Health, Mr Ezeh Dumeza and others, applauded the NGO for the feat achieved in the year 2023.
High points of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to the Executive Director, SACA, Mr Kingsley Ozegbe by the State office of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
