July 18, (THEWILL) – Royale Union Saint-Gilloise manager, Aleksander Blessin, has addressed the recent speculations surrounding the future of Victor Boniface, the talented striker, who has been linked with a potential departure from the Jupiler Pro League side during the summer transfer window.
While Everton have been rumoured to be interested in the Nigerian, there is no concrete evidence to support the claims. Boniface’s impressive performance throughout the season, recording 34 goal involvements in 55 appearances across all competitions for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodo/Glimt, has undoubtedly put him in the spotlight.
Moreover, the 22-year-old emerged as the leading goal scorer in the Europa League, netting six goals and earning a place in the UEL Team of the Season. Blessin acknowledges the reported interest from German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen regarding Boniface’s services.
However, he was hopeful in Union retaining the talented striker for the forthcoming season, as the German club is also considering other options, such as Werder Bremen’s Niclas Fillkrug. Boniface, whose contract runs until June 2026, was signed last summer for a fee of €2 million.
The club’s determination to retain the young striker suggests their confidence in his abilities and potential to contribute significantly to their future success.
