August 17, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal proved insufficient for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup on Saturday, with rivals Al-Hilal winning 4-1 at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 2024/2025 season opener, converting Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s pass just before half-time. However, the Portuguese star was seen angrily signalling to teammates during Al-Nassr’s second-half collapse.
Al-Hilal, last season’s unbeaten Pro League champions, equalised through Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s powerful strike. Former Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic then scored twice in six minutes to put Al-Hilal ahead.
The final goal came from Brazilian Malcom, who capitalised on a mistake by goalkeeper Bento to score into an empty net with 18 minutes remaining.
Despite Ronaldo’s early contribution, Al-Nassr were ultimately overwhelmed by their rivals in this Saudi Arabian football showpiece event.
