October 02, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo has been selected on Manchester United’s bench for the Premier League match against Everton on Saturday. It is his first bench start of a Premier League match at Old Trafford since May 2007, when Man United lost 0-1 to West Ham on the final day of the 2006/2007 season.

THEWILL recalls that Ronaldo scored a late winner in the Champions League against Villarreal on Wednesday night, only for him to be strangely rested for the final game before the international break.

After injury and illness, Luke Shaw has returned to the starting lineup alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof, the latter filling in for the injured Harry Maguire.

Speaking to MUTV before the game, Solskjaer explained the brow-raising decision: “Wednesday night was a big physical and emotional output so we had to freshen it up. An early kick-off, the start of this game is going to be very important and we’ve got some very good players coming on. It’s a team we think can take charge of the game.”

The full team list for the 12:30 pm kickoff:

STARTING XI:
David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Scott McTominay, Fred; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial; Edinson Cavani.

SUBS:
Cristiano Ronaldo, Alex Telles, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Jadon Sancho, Eric Bailly, Nemanja Matic, Dean Henderson.
