July 17, (THEWILL) – Rome prosecutors have requested a trial for former Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli and other ex-managers over allegations of false accounting. The charges include stock manipulation, obstruction of supervision, and false invoicing. This request follows a prolonged investigation into the financial practices of Italy’s most successful football club.
Agnelli, who led Juventus from 2010 to 2022, and former vice-chairman Pavel Nedved are among those facing potential legal action. A judge will now evaluate the prosecutors’ request to determine whether the case should proceed to trial.
Juventus has consistently denied any wrongdoing, stating that their accounting practices align with industry standards. However, the club faced a 10-point deduction in the 2022/2023 Serie A season due to a ruling by an Italian football court regarding their transfer dealings.
The case was initially examined in Turin, but Italy’s Supreme Court moved proceedings to Rome at the request of defence lawyers. Juventus has declined to comment on the latest developments.
This legal saga continues to cast a shadow over one of Italy’s most prominent football institutions, potentially impacting its reputation and future operations.
