Reduced Gas Supply From Nigeria Triggers Three Weeks Power Cuts In Ghana

June 15, (THEWILL)- Authorities in Ghana have announced three weeks of power cuts in the country.
The Ghana Grid Company Limited, (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG), blamed the interruptions on the gas shortage supply from Nigeria since June 12.
The statement further added that load management is necessary as “maintenance works are being undertaken by a gas supplier in Nigeria and are projected to last three (3) weeks.
“The maintenance has caused a reduction in overall power generation capacity in Ghana which could result in load management over the period of the work.”
While apologising for the inconvenience caused, they assured the public that “we are collaborating with other stakeholders in the power value chain to optimise available resources to ensure minimal impact of the reduction in gas supply on consumers.”
