February 27, (THEWILL) – Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers squandered a golden chance to close the gap on rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership by drawing 2-2 at home to Motherwell.
Celtic were held to a 0-0 draw by Hibernian at Easter Road earlier today. That result opened the door for Rangers to cut the gap at the top of the table to one point, and after storming to a two-goal lead, that appeared to be the case.
At their Ibrox grounds, though, they crumbled under pressure in the second half, with Jordan Roberts and Kaiyne Woolery scoring to share the spoils after Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala had given the hosts a solid first-half lead.

Also engaged in the amazing comeback was a Celtic loanee. At halftime, Graham Alexander introduced summer addition Liam Shaw, who clearly made an impact.
While Ange Postecoglou’s team may have extended their lead in the Scottish Premiership if they had done better earlier in the day, the entire Celtic side will heave a sigh of relief that they were not penalised for their poor performance against Hibernian.
Over the next seven days, important fixtures for the two top sides in the Scottish league will be crucial. Celtic will go against St Mirren and Livingston while Rangers face St. Johnstone and Aberdeen. Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his charges will have to play better to have any chance of defending their title.
