September 19, (THEWILL) – The management of Splash FM, one of the leading radio station chains in Nigeria, has placed a ban on broadcasting songs by Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, across all its stations, citing the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of singer, Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba aka MohBad.

“In view of the sensitive nature around the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion,” a statement from the station read.

“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB (Not to be Broadcast) on our stations until further notice. This is with immediate effect,” the statement reiterated.
This latest development comes as the police begin the official commencement of inquiries into MohBad’s death.

Similarly, a privately owned radio broadcast station, Fresh FM 106.9 FM, Ado in Ekiti State, also banned his songs from airing on the station till further notice.

The radio station disclosed this in a post shared on its Instagram handle (@freshfm1069adoekiti) and signed by its Head of production and Music Content, Oluwaseunfunmi Williams.

Naira Marley has been at the centre of controversy following the sudden and mysterious death of MohBad who was a former signee of the Marlian Records before the two singers fell out on bad terms.

Although no evidence has directly placed Naira Marley as the killer of Mohbad, footage which emerged in the aftermath of MohBad’s passing last week Tuesday, has had the public calling for an investigation into the musician’s death.

Some of the footage documented the series of abuse MohBad suffered at the hands of Naira Marley and his allies including gang leader Samson Balogun aka Sam Larry who on one occasion, disrupted the late singer’s music video set.
