PSG Welcome Benfica’s Ndour To Paris

July 12, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain have officially confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Italian midfielder, Cher Ndour, from Benfica.

Ndour, who recently clinched the Portuguese league title with Benfica, has signed a five-year contract with the French champions. This marks PSG’s sixth signing under new head coach Luis Enrique, who took over from Christophe Galtier just last week. Ndour’s addition to the squad further strengthens PSG’s roster, alongside the recent signings of Lucas Hernandez, Manuel Ugarte, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, and Lee Kang-in.

The Ligue 1 champions find themselves in a process of transition, especially following the departure of Argentine legend Lionel Messi to the US Major League Soccer club Inter Miami and amid uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s future. As the transfer window progresses, Les Parisiens face the imperative to sell their prized asset, Mbappe, in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires next season.

The French club is keen on resolving Mbappe’s situation and securing a transfer deal during the current window, which will be the most cost-effective option for resolving the impasse, as the World Cup winner’s time at Le Parc des Princes is turning toxic.

Meanwhile, the acquisition of Ndour adds further depth and talent to PSG’s already impressive lineup. With Ndour’s successful stint at Benfica and his participation in Italy’s Under-19 Euros campaign, he brings valuable experience and potential to the Parisian side. As PSG continue to navigate the post-Messi era and address the uncertainty surrounding Mbappe’s future, the club’s strategic approach to building a strong and competitive squad remains at the forefront.
