September 13, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain has announced its readiness to confront Kylian Mbappe in a legal setting over a wage dispute, following the footballer’s refusal of mediation offered by the French football league’s governing body (LFP).
The dispute centres around a reported €55 million claim by Mbappe, who recently transferred to Real Madrid after seven seasons with PSG. While the club welcomed the LFP’s mediation offer, Mbappe, the France national team captain, declined to participate.
PSG expressed disappointment at Mbappe’s decision, stating that the Commission had recommended mediation to find a compromise. The club now intends to present its case in an alternative legal forum, citing “favourable arguments” and emphasising Mbappe’s previous commitments to the club.
The situation stems from last year’s reports that Mbappe had agreed to forego loyalty bonuses if he left PSG on a free transfer. In January, Mbappe mentioned an agreement with PSG Chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, to protect all parties and maintain club stability.
PSG maintains that Mbappe made clear, repeated public and private commitments that should be respected, given the “unprecedented benefits” he received during his time in Paris. The club stated it looks forward to these commitments being upheld in the proper forum if Mbappe chooses to pursue the matter further.
