August 02, (THEWILL) – The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sani Musa, has urged all Nigerians to reject violence and seek dialogue towards peaceful resolution of the current crisis emanating from the nationwide protests in the country.

Musa, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, made the call in a statement titled: “A Call for Peace: Prioritising Nigeria’s Future Over Protests” issued to newsmen in Kano on Friday.

“As we enter the second day of the protests, I wish to appeal to everyone, especially the leaders and organisers, to place the country’s welfare above all else and call off the protest in the interest of all concerned.

“Too much blood has been shed, lives have been lost, and properties have been destroyed. This violence serves no one and only deepens the wounds we must all work to heal.

“Our strength lies in our unity and our ability to rise above adversity. I call on every Nigerian to reject violence, seek dialogue, and work towards the peaceful resolution of our conflicts.

“Together, we can overcome these challenges and build a nation that we can all be proud of.

“Let us put Nigeria first, for the sake of our children and the future generations. Let us show the world that we can resolve our differences through peaceful means, and that we are capable of building a stronger and more united Nigeria,” he said.

The lawmaker also appealed to Nigerians to embrace dialogue and allow peace to prevail “in the face of this terrible tragedy we are inflicting upon our nation”.

He said it was only through constructive conversation and mutual understanding that we can hope to resolve our differences and build a better future.

The Senator said President Bola Tinubu has the best interest of the country at heart and is working tirelessly to bring about positive change, and that his vision for Nigeria is one of progress, unity and prosperity for all.

Musa, however, said that this vision could only be realised if all Nigerians come together in peace and cooperation.

According to him, the demands of the protesters can only be addressed in an atmosphere of peace and harmony, adding that violence and unrest will only delay the resolution of these issues and prolong the suffering of the people.

“This is a challenging time for us all, a period that requires us to embrace the truth, make sacrifices, and persevere. The hardships we face today will soon be overcome if we stand united and support one another,” the Senator added.
