April 15, (THEWILL) – Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, have paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth for the first time after stepping down as working member of the British royal family in 2020.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are now based in California, visited the Queen on Thursday at Windsor Castle.
The couple are heading to the Netherlands for Harry’s Fifth Invictus Game, slated to be held between April 16 and 22 in the Hague.
The celebration aimed at celebrating the wounded service members and veterans was originally scheduled to hold for 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Harry, 37, had been to the UK on two occasions since his family relocated, but Meghan has remained in the US.
In April last year, Harry turned up for the funeral of Prince William, his grandfather. He also attended the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana, his late mother in July.
Harry and Meghan had left the UK in 2020 after their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey wherein they bared lurid details of their struggle with the royal family.
During the interview, Meghan, citing a conversation she had with Harry, had alleged that some members of the royal family mulled not naming their son a prince because of his skin color.
