Police Kill Two Bandits, Recover Arms, Ammunition, Vehicles In Benue

July 02, (THEWILL) – As part of follow-up operations, Operation Zenda JTF invaded a criminal hideout at Tse Uza, Mbatyula Council Ward, in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, on June 30, 2024.

Upon arrival at the camp, bandits engaged the police in a gun duel to resist invasion but were overpowered by the superior firepower of the police team.

In a statement in Makurdi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Sewuese Anene, said two bandits received gunshot injuries in the course of the operation and they were confirmed dead by a doctor and corpses were deposited at General Hospital, Ukum, while other suspects escaped.

The statement listed exhibits recovered from the camps to include; two Pistols loaded with ammunition, three locally made shotguns, thirteen motorcycles, camouflage uniforms, six walkie-talkies, one Toyota Corolla and one tricycle.

It added that the Commissioner of Police, Benue state command, CP. Hassan Steve Yabanet, who commended the bravery exhibited by those officers, also urged the people of Sankara Federation Constituency to provide useful information to the police about suspects at large, who may be seen with gunshot injuries.

The CP reiterated his commitment to fight crime in the state and bring it down to a minimum for residents to go about their legitimate businesses.
