The Kogi state police command has declared the lawmaker representing the Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye and Mohammed Audu, son of the late former governor of the state, Abubakar Audu, wanted.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Police in Kogi state, Ali Janga, the police said that Melaye and Audu were wanted for providing false information to the Police in connection with an alleged attempt on the life of the senator in 2017.
Janga said the duo have been placed on Interpol watch list adding that they would be arrested anywhere they are seen.
“The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Police Command today, 28th March, 2018 received a news that six (6) suspected criminal elements namely; Kabiru Seidu a.k.a Osama, Nuhu Salisu a.k.a Small, Aliyu Isa, Adams Suleiman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohammed who were under detention at the ‘A’ Division, Lokoja, escaped from lawful custody,” he said.
“Four of the suspects were on court remand including two that indicted Senator Dino Melaye and Mohammed Audi.
“Consequently, all the six suspects, Senator Dino Melaye and Mohammed Audu were sent for watch listing and red notice by the INTERPOL for immediate arrest anywhere we see them.”
This is coming shortly after Janga announced the escape of the suspects who accused the senator of sponsoring them and providing them with guns for their operations.
Janga said that the suspects escaped around 3:00 AM on Wednesday ahead of their planned arraignment.
