May 9, (THEWILL)- Police in Ogun State have arrested a 40-year-old suspect burglar, Ugodalo Agbato, for allegedly breaking into shops and houses in the Atan-Ota axis of the state and carting away valuables worth millions of naira.
The suspect was arrested during a raid on a criminal hideout on Sokoto Road near the Atan-Ota junction by the Divisional Police Officer and his men.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Wednesday.
Odutola said the raid followed complaints from shop owners and residents of Atan-Ota over the activities of burglars in the area since January 2024.
Following this, she said: “An aggressive raid was carried out by the Divisional Police Officer within Atan-Ota axis, which led to the arrest of a suspected serial house/shop burglar, one Ugodalo Agbato “m” aged 40 years during a raid on a criminal hideout on Sokoto Road near Atan-Ota junction.
“Fourteen different bank ATM cards with various owners’ names and the sum of sixteen thousand eight hundred Naira, (N16,800) cash were part of the exhibits recovered from the suspect’s pockets at the time of his arrest.
“Preliminary investigations have commenced, the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran in Abeokuta for further discreet investigation.”
