Police Arrest Poultry Worker Over 1,300 Missing Chickens

August 14, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 56-year-old man for allegedly stealing 1,300 chickens estimated at N8 million at Libro Farm Bambose in Odeda Local Government Area of the State.

The suspect, Abiola Olumuyiwa of Agbaja Zone 3, off Akute 1 Road, Olodo, Ibadan, was arrested following a complaint lodged before CSP Kola Akande by the director of the farm.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

She said: “The Director of Libro Farm Bambose in Odeda has lodged a complaint before CSP Kola Akande, the DPO, over 1,300 missing live fowls kept in hen house under the care of one Abiola Olumuyiwa, “m”, 56 years of Agbaja zone 3, off Akute1 road, Olodo, Ibadan, who was employed on the 28th of January 2023 to look after the hen house.

“On the 11th of August 2023, when the fowls were counted, the director discovered that about one thousand three hundred valued at 8m Naira could not be accounted for. The farm director is pained at the enormous havoc done to the poultry farm in reference to the harsh economic situation.”

She said that following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Mustapha, the Command has commenced a preliminary investigation and the suspect had been apprehended and is presently in police custody to ascertain the extent or veracity of his theft, as well as to know if he was stealing from the poultry farm and selling or eating them, adding that all will be made known soon to members of the public.
