June 13, (THEWILL) – A play, Emir Sanusi-Truth in Clay, produced by the Duke of Shomolu, is to be staged in Lagos and Abuja, according to a statement by Joseph Edgar, the Executive chairman of Duke of Shomolu.
The play will depict the lives, drama and intrigues surrounding the detronement of both Emir Sanusi I and his grandson, Emir Sanusi II, leaning on the eyewitness account of the Dogari (palace guards),who served both Emirs.
The play will depict the colourful tradition of the fulanis and other people in Northern Nigeria.
The National Troupe of Nigeria has already endorsed the production and it will be partnering in it’s execution.
According to Joseph Edgar, the former Emir has confirmed his readiness to attend both performances to be held in both cities.
The play will be directed by Prof Ahmed Yerima, who wrote and directed the Duke of Shomolu’s play, Aremu, a play that depicted the life of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
