PIDOM Arrested For Leaking Classified Documents, Cybercrime – Police

August 24, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Police Force, on Saturday, confirmed the arrest of whistle-blower, Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM, over the alleged leakage of government-classified documents and cybercrime.

Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday.

PIDOM has been using his popular X account @PIDOMNIGERIA to expose alleged corrupt activities. In the wake of the recent #EndBadGovernance Protest, he had used his platform to lend support to the people.

His disappearance has generated outrage on social media. Investigative journalist David Hundeyin had on Thursday, revealed that he was arrested by the police on the instruction of the National Security Adviser (NSA)

However, Adejob said PIDOM was arrested on August 5 in his hotel room in Port Harcourt, Rivers State by the police National Cybercrime Centre over leakage of government documents.

He said, “In a well-coordinated effort, officials from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) apprehended Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM, on allegations of committing serious offences that undermine the integrity of government operations. The arrest took place on August 5, 2024, in his hotel room in Rivers State.

“There are several allegations levelled against the suspect, including unlawful possession, leakages of classified documents, cyber-related offences, and others. We will do due diligence in carrying out thorough investigation into the cases.

“The force will leave no stone unturned to continually enforce the law and bequeath to Nigerians a more secure nation,” he said.
