Paul Pogba Signs Documentary Deal With Amazon

BEVERLY HILLS, April 14, (THEWILL) – World cup winning midfielder Paul Pogba, who plays as part of the squad for the English Premier League side Manchester United, has agreed to an overall deal with the American television and film producer and distributor, Amazon Studios, which is a subsidiary of Amazon.

The deal, which is his first project with the streaming giant, is for a documentary series about his life, titled, “The Pogmentary.”

The French player is set to collaborate with Black Dynamite, part of the Mediawan Group, on the French Amazon Original series. The finished project will reveal what made Pogba the man he is today and offer a glimpse into his life so far.

The synopsis of the material reads: “Prime members will discover his world through previously unreleased footage from his childhood and conversations with his family, friends and teammates. His fans will also learn more about his life, passions and accomplishments, looking at what were the key moments on his journey to become one of the most influential football players and icons in the world.”

For now, other details such as the length of the project in terms of watch time and the value of Pogba’s overall deal were not disclosed by Amazon, but it avails the distributor the tie-in with one of football’s biggest stars, plying his trade at one of the world’s biggest clubs and his more than 43 million followers on social media.

Georgia Brown, who is head of European originals at Amazon Studios, said was frank about the project: “We all know Paul for what he can do on a football pitch, but his influence reaches much further and he is without doubt an icon for an entire generation.

“Through the unprecedented access afforded to us, Prime Video will show the man behind the fame, delving into his life off the pitch and letting him tell his story in his own words.”

It is the sort of entertainment Man U fans and lovers of the English Premier League, in particular, and football, in general, will relish and Amazon is counting on that for the success of the project. “The Pogmentary” is billed for a 2022 premiere.
