Parliamentary Workers Block National Assembly As Labour Shut FIRS Operations In Lagos

June 3, (THEWILL)- Activities in the Nigerian National Assembly have been disrupted, as members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), on Monday, blocked the entrance and exit gate to the Assembly.

PASAN had earlier directed all chapter Chairmen and Secretaries, to mobilise their members for effective participation in the ongoing strike by organised labour over national minimum wage and electricity tariff hike.

“Following the resolutions by the NLC/ TUC, all affiliates are to mobilise their members to join the nationwide strike action starting from the 3rd of June 2024″, a letter signed by PASAN Acting Secretary General, Agugbue Ugochi Happiness, earlier directed

In compliance with the directive, the workers, on Monday, blocked the entrance and exit gates of the National Assembly with two buses.

Meanwhile, members of organised labour have shut down operation at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Lagos.

THEWILL reports that the union, on Monday, picketed the office of the FIRS in Agidingbi, Ikeja, and chased out staff that reported for work.
