March 31, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s Managing Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, will take a leave of absence following FIFA’s decision to ban him from world football for 30 months.

The ban comes after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) initially handed down the punishment due to his involvement in Juventus’ financial mismanagement during his time as sporting director with the Italian club.

Despite the initial shock and anger expressed by Tottenham at the charge on short notice, the club has now agreed with Paratici that he will step back from his duties until the outcome of his appeal, which is set for April 19. Paratici’s ban has now become global, and it is still unclear how it may affect Tottenham.

The football world was surprised by Tottenham’s announcement, particularly as Juventus’ entire board resigned when the allegations against Paratici first came to light back in November 2022. As Paratici awaits the outcome of his appeal, Tottenham will have to move forward without their managing director of football.
