March 28, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s Managing Director, Fabio Paratici, believes that the decision for Antonio Conte to depart from his role as head coach was “the right decision for everyone.”
As THEWILL reported, Conte’s exit followed a heated rant after Tottenham’s 3-3 draw with Southampton, in which he criticised the team’s “selfish” players and the club’s failure to win anything in the last 20 years. While acknowledging Conte’s difficult personal circumstances in recent months, Paratici is confident that the decision to part ways will benefit all parties.
In the interim, former Assistant Coach, Cristian Stellini, has taken over as Head Coach. Paratici has praised Stellini’s experience as a second coach and his readiness to make the step up. Ryan Mason, a former player and current coach, will also be assisting Stellini. Paratici is optimistic about the duo’s ability to lead the team to a successful end of the season.
Tottenham is currently fourth in the English Premier League, with just two points separating them from fifth-placed Newcastle United. While several high-profile coaches have been rumoured as possible long-term replacements for Conte, Paratici is adamant that the club’s focus is on the remaining games of the season.
It was his position and insistence that the club’s priority now was to support Stellini, Mason, and the players in their push for a top-four finish in the 2022/2023 campaign.
