October 16, (THEWILL) – Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, will not feature in this weekend’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona after the club confirmed on Monday that the Nigerian international had sustained a hamstring injury whilst on duty for Nigeria.
The defending champions of Serie A did not exactly specify how long the 24-year-old would be out of action, but reports suggest he could face up to a month on the sidelines with a moderate tear in his right hamstring.
This would see Osimhen, the capocannoniere from last season, absent for the next four league matches, as well as two crucial UEFA Champions League ties against Union Berlin over the coming weeks.

The forward picked up the latest injury during Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw with Saudi Arabia on Friday. It will not be the first time Osimhen is returning to Naples on the sidelines after representing Nigeria as he injured his shoulder in February 2021.
This latest injury will come as a significant blow to Napoli, who currently sit fifth in the Serie A standings on 14 points – seven shy of league leaders AC Milan, whom they are scheduled to face on October 29.
